European jewelry brand is opening its first store in Toronto

Danish jewelry brand, Pilgrim, is set to open its first store in Toronto at the Eaton Center this month.

The brand’s story begins in Denmark in the summer of 1983, when designer Annemette Markvad “translated her great love for minimalism, art, music, and people” into a collection of handmade jewelry she sold at music festivals throughout Scandinavia and Germany.

Pilgrim was introduced to the Canadian market just eight years ago by the brand’s North American CEO, Robert Hayes, and now operates five locations in cities like Montreal, Quebec City, and Ottawa.

Two charged in connection with elderly jewelry scams in York Region

Two people have been arrested in connection with several distraction-style thefts targeting elderly people in Vaughan.

It is alleged that on May 29 and May 31 at around 6 pm, two suspects in an SUV pulled up to elderly victims who were out walking. The suspects engaged in conversation with them, York police said, asking for directions. During these interactions, the suspects allegedly tried to gift the victims with cheap jewelry, using this gesture as a rage while attempting to remove the victims’ valuable jewelry.

35-Carat Lab-Grown Diamond Going on Display in Vegas

Las Vegas—Attendees at the JCK Las Vegas show will be able to see a 35-carat lab-grown diamond, a stone that’s just slightly larger than the record-setting lab grown-diamond reported on just last month.

Maitri Lab-Grown Diamonds created the emerald-cut, Type IIa stone using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. The company, which has offices in Surat, India, and New York, said it took approximately 1,800 hours (75 days) to grow the diamond.

The International Gemological Institute graded it as H color, SI1 clarity.

IGI said the 35-carat stone is the largest polished lab-grown diamond to date, topping the 34.59-carat diamond
