Victoria police have arrested a suspect after a violent daytime robbery at a downtown jewelry store.
A man wielding a hammer walked into Francis Jewelers on Broughton Street around 3:45 pm on April 15 and began smashing display cases.
The staff inside the shop confronted the man, wielding some chairs as weapons, in an effort to stop the robbery in progress.
The thief eventually fled with a backpack full of jewelry from three display cases, including several rings and a Rolex watch worth an estimated $20,000.
Investigators released surveillance video of the brazen robbery and appealed to the public for
