Prince George RCMP hunt for clothing/jewelry thief

Prince George RCMP is asking the public for help finding a woman suspected of stealing dresses and jewelry from a downtown store.

The theft occurred on Tuesday at a store in the 1300 block of Third Avenue and the suspect was made off with a variety of goods worth more than $10,000.

Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jennifer Cooper is asking people to watch for online marketplace listings of new clothing and jewelry for sale.

The police have an image taken by video surveillance of the suspect at the time of the robbery. She is described as with shoulder-length brown

Scientists find dense rings around dwarf planet, but can’t quite explain why

New telescope data has revealed that a dwarf planet in the outer reaches of the solar system has a dense ring around it, leaving scientists and astronomers confused as to why.

Scientists at the European Space Agency announced Wednesday that data and observations of the planet Quaoar which was collected between 2018 and 2021 —from ground-based telescopes, and the space-based telescope Cheops — led them to the discovery.

The ESA disclosed that Quaoar crossed in front of a succession of distant stars, blocking their light as it passed, in an event called an occultation. When the planet blocked that light,
