A man has been charged in relation to a break-in at an evacuated residence following a house explosion and fire in northeast Calgary last month.
On March 30 at around 1:45 pm, a woman and her husband were returning to their house in the 700 block of Maryvale Way NE after a house explosion sent 10 people to hospital and damaged other houses several days earlier.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a jewelry thief who was caught on surveillance camera smashing displays and stealing from a downtown Victorian small business.
The traumatic incident took place at Francis Jewelers, a jewelry store located in the 600-block of Broughton Street at around 3:45 pm on Saturday, April 15th.
The police were told by staff that a man had entered the business holding a hammer. He then made his way behind the counter where he opened two display cases using the hammer and stole some of their contents.

Peabody police arrested a 27-year-old man Monday after he allegedly robbed the Kay Jewelers at Northshore Mall while wearing a “Scream” mask.
Peabody resident Starlin Batista allegedly robbed the store just before 1 pm by handing a threatening note to a store employee and motioning that he had a gun, Peabody police said in a news release.

Police are looking to identify a suspect who was caught on video using a hammer to smash glass displays at a Victorian jewelry store on April 15.
Security camera footage shows the suspect walking through the store with multiple bags before they start to smash displays and appear to pocket items. Multiple staff members in the store are then seen stepping in and trying to contain the man, some using chairs to do so, before the suspect continues to break more of the jewelry-containing counters.
