West Shore RCMP warn about jewelry fraud

Mounties on the West Shore are warning the public that a group of fraudsters have been active in parking lots and gas stations in the area.

The West Shore RCMP said they received multiple reports about what seemed to be a normal family of three or four people, including an adult man, a woman and two children.

They reportedly engaged their victims by trying to sell them gold or jewelry, typically providing “an emotionally charged story” about needing money urgently for gas, ferry tickets or a family emergency, police said.

Three men are in custody after allegedly breaking into Jose Altuve’s home and stealing seven figures worth of jewelry.

The crime occurred on the March 30 Opening Day, when Altuve’s Houston Astros took on the Chicago White Sox in Houston.

The three men – Patrick Bernard Maxey (27), Jordan Tarniella (25), and William Jones, Jr, 28 reportedly broke into the home shortly before 8:30 pm CT and left 10 minutes later with 13 watches, one of which cost over $400,000, via KHOU.

5 men charged in connection with attempted robbery at Brampton jewelry store – Toronto

Five men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery attempt in Brampton, Ont., police say.

Peel Regional Police said that on April 6 at around 11 am, officers received a report of an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in the McLaughlin Road and Wanless Drive area.

Police said suspects, allegedly armed with firearms and other weapons, attempted to break into the store but were not successful.

Officers said the suspects fled the area in a white Dodge Durango which did not have license plates.

Police said one victim suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Man accused of armed robbery at Victoria jewelry store arrested at housing facility

Victoria police have arrested a man accused of storming a downtown jewelry store in a brazen daylight robbery that left staff and customers shaken.

On April 15, a man entered Francis Jewelers in the 600-block of Broughton Street armed with a hammer and confronted staff, demanding access to three display cases. Despite the staff’s attempts to stop him, the suspect managed to make off with a significant number of stolen items.
