Sledgehammers used in brazen lunchtime heist at Birkdale Village jewelry store
Police are searching for three masked robbers who used sledgehammers in a brazen lunchtime heist at a Tuesday’s Birkdale Village jewelry store.
Officers arrived in minutes after employees at Fink’s Jewelers on Birkdale Commons Parkway called them, but the robbers fled, possibly in two vehicles, Huntersville Police Major Brian Vaughan said in a news release.
The men entered the store at about noon wearing hooded sweatshirts and full-face masks, and at least two of them held what appeared to be handguns, police said.

A Manhattan Beach jewelry store is sharing the video of a recent ‘distraction theft’ that cost them more than $15k worth of jewelry, hoping it will prevent others from falling prey to these perpetrators.

The owners of more than $500,000 in stolen jewelry recovered in a distraction theft investigation are being sought by the York Regional Police.
The distraction thefts and robberies that occurred across York Region in June typically involved two suspects in an SUV who would approach elderly victims and engage them in conversation.
