Mountain lion pack caught on Ring video in Colorado neighborhood at night

Mountain lions are a natural part of the ecology in Colorado, so they get closer to people that you might expect on occasion, CBS Colorado’s Jack Lowenstein oberves.

Carolyn Andrews shared Ring doorbell video with CBS Colorado of one incident such from April 1, when a group of mountain lions was seen walking through her neighborhood at night. She lives in Silverthorne, some 67 miles west of Denver.

The company that makes Ring, the DIY security system that helps people protect their property, has decided that it, too, wants a piece of the subscription plan pie and will soon require users to pay for certain features.

Beginning March 29th, any new US Ring users will have to pay for basic features like video recording for one doorbell or camera. Current Ring users, though, are good to go. Anyone who owned a Ring alarm before that date will be able to use those in-app features for free.

Scientists find dense rings around dwarf planet, but can’t quite explain why

New telescope data has revealed that a dwarf planet in the outer reaches of the solar system has a dense ring around it, leaving scientists and astronomers confused as to why.

Scientists at the European Space Agency announced Wednesday that data and observations of the planet Quaoar which was collected between 2018 and 2021 —from ground-based telescopes, and the space-based telescope Cheops — led them to the discovery.
