What is HUID tag for gold?

from April 1, the sale of gold jewelery will not be allowed without a Hallmark Unique Identification (HUID) number, the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said on Friday.

As reported by The Indian Express, Nidhi Khare, Additional Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs, said, “In consumer interest it has been decided that after 31st March, 2023 the sale of gold jewelery and gold artifacts shall be hallmarked without HUID shall not be permitted.”

Brazil investigates undeclared $3 million jewelry gift to Bolsonaro

BRASILIA, March 6 (Reuters) – Brazilian Justice Minister Flavio Dino on Monday ordered police to investigate an alleged attempt to bring in undeclared jewelry, a gift from Saudi Arabia valued at $3.2 million, to former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro.

The diamond necklace, ring, watch and earrings gifted to Bolsonaro and former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro by the Saudi government were seized by customs officials at Sao Paulo’s international airport in October 2021.

NYC thieves steal $500K in jewelry in Queens heist: NYPD

Two thieves made off with $500,000 in jewelry after bursting into a Queen’s gem shop and beating an elderly employee Wednesday, cops said.

The men rushed into Diamond Collect near Prince Street and 39th Avenue in Downtown Flushing around 2:30 pm

According to police, the jewel thieves “punched, kicked and struck a 79-year-old female employee in the head with a handgun.”

The video of the robbery shows one of the men pushing past the woman as she flails at his feet.

Lethbridge store owner celebrating 40 years in business

After opening the shop at the age of 60, Catherine Tompkins of Tompkins Jewelers is marking her store’s 40th anniversary this year, while celebrating her 100th birthday.

Tompkins turned 100 on Friday and her jewelery store has been open since 1983.

“As far as Tompkins Jewelers are concerned, I put a lot of time and effort into it, you know,” she said. “Having a birthday is just another day, but having a business is something else.”

Rare 1,600-year-old gold bead found by teenager in Jerusalem’s City of David

A rare gold bead made by hand in Jerusalem some 1,600 years ago was recently discovered by an 18-year-old volunteer in the City of David, not far from the Old City, the Israel Antiquities Authority said Wednesday.

The tiny bead, found intact in an imposing Roman structure on what is known as the Pilgrimage Road, was created in a complex method that required the maker to delicately weld together more than a dozen granules of pure gold, the IAA said in a statement.
