Following an extraordinarily wet winter, the water is once again roaring into some of California’s largest reservoirs and lakes for the first time in nearly three years.

Southern California’s largest reservoir marked an incredible turnaround Monday when officials from the Metropolitan Water District turned on the taps once again — releasing water transported from Northern California that gushed from valves at 600 cubic feet per second into the 4.5-mile-long Diamond Valley Lake.

For those on an MLB diamond this year, there’s going to be a notable difference in the infield besides a restriction on the shift. MLB increased the base size to 18 square inches from the previous size of 15 square inches this offseason, giving the bases more coverage on the dirt.

This change is being made as more of an installation of safety than to affect gameplay. The idea is to avoid collisions, particularly between players covering first base and players running through it.

A video of a strange black ring of smoke hovering over the Russian capital has gone viral on social media, sparking a range of questions on Twitter.

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs, shared a clip on his Twitter page on Monday that has so far been viewed by more than 2.2 million people. It shows the thick black ring over Moscow, which gradually gets fainter by the end of the clip.

Gersashchenko captioned the video: “Residents of Moscow publish videos of a black circle in the city’s sky. What do you think happened here?”

4 men were sentenced for armed robbery of a Glendale jewelry store last year

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced Monday that a judge has sentenced four defendants in the 2022 armed robbery of a Glendale jewelry store.

In March of 2022, four men walked into a Glendale jewelry store wearing ski masks and brandishing a weapon with the intent to commit robbery.

Nine employees and customers had their wallets and phones taken and were held hostage while the robbers put $1.5 million in jewelry and cash into pillowcases. The hostages had been threatened with a weapon and some were zip-tied.
