Edmonton’s Epico Designs finding international acclaim

A self-made Edmonton entrepreneur is designing his way to the top of the fashion world with pieces featured internationally and by a Canadian musician.

Andrea Espinoza is the owner and founder of Epico Designs, a local jeweler that offers sustainable fine and fashion pieces for men and women using recycled stainless steel and responsible gold-plating.

Growing up in Ecuador, Espinoza lost her parents at the age of five. Her grandparents, entrepreneurs themselves, inspired her to start her first jewelry business when she was seven.

4 men were sentenced for armed robbery of a Glendale jewelry store last year

Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced Monday that a judge has sentenced four defendants in the 2022 armed robbery of a Glendale jewelry store.

In March of 2022, four men walked into a Glendale jewelry store wearing ski masks and brandishing a weapon with the intent to commit robbery.

Nine employees and customers had their wallets and phones taken and were held hostage while the robbers put $1.5 million in jewelry and cash into pillowcases. The hostages had been threatened with a weapon and some were zip-tied.
