How to Watch

3 Must-Watch Events

Women’s 400 meters (2:15 p.m. ET)

Two Americans, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Shamier Little, will highlight the 400 meters this weekend. McLaughlin-Levrone’s coach, Bobby Kersee, referred to this event as a “tune-up” race leading up to Worlds. Little, similarly, will be ditching the hurdles (her specialty) to run the flat 400. Keep an eye on 800-meter specialist Mary Moraa, too.

Men’s 800 meters (2:25 p.m. ET)

Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy will toe the line in the 800 meters alongside fellow American Bryce Hoppel. Hoppel defended his 800-meter US title last week, beating Murphy, who placed third. The race features seven men who have run under 1:44 this season, led by 18-year-old Emmanuel Wanyonyi.

Women’s mile (2:35 p.m. ET)

This just might be the race of the day. Nikki Hiltz, who is coming off a win in the 1500 meters at the US championships earlier this month, will face off against Faith Kipyegon, who recently set the world record in both the 1500 meters and the 5,000 meters. The mile world record could be on borrowed time.
