De Beers Honored Independent Jewelry Designers With an Elegant Sunset Dinner

On Friday evening, guests gathered at Montauk’s Surf Lodge to browse their on-site boutique, which, in celebration of its 15th anniversary, was curated with collections from six up-and-coming and diverse jewelry designers. And to further celebrate, an intimate dinner sponsored by De Beers was hosted at Surf Lodge, just as the sun set to display a haze of pink hues.

Curated by Jayma Cardoso, founder and creative director of The Surf Lodge, the selection included pieces from designers Harwell Godfrey, Lorraine West, Maggi Simpkins, MATEO, Ten Thousand Things, and WWAKE. “They [De Beers] have been really supportive of us designers, and it’s been great to work with them. I’m really excited about the work they are doing around sustainability and safe practices,” said Maggi Simpkins, designer and founder of the Maggi Simpkins jewelry brand. “The assortment that I put together was around diamonds and pearls. I always feel like when you are on the beach pearls are the perfect beach accent.”

Guests such as Cynthia Rowley, Jayma Cardoso, Ron Anderson, Lorraine West, and Karen Kimmel chatted with fellow dinner guests and designers as they sunk their toes into the sand (the property’s Sandbar beach area had recently been redone by CB2—outfitted with white linen lounges and plush seating) and enjoyed a seafood-focused dinner of tuna sashimi, roasted halibut, and summer heirloom salad. After dinner, guests gathered on the couches lining the edge of the water to continue the celebration and enjoy the warm July evening.
