35-Carat Lab-Grown Diamond Going on Display in Vegas

Las Vegas—Attendees at the JCK Las Vegas show will be able to see a 35-carat lab-grown diamond, a stone that’s just slightly larger than the record-setting lab grown-diamond reported on just last month.

Maitri Lab-Grown Diamonds created the emerald-cut, Type IIa stone using the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process. The company, which has offices in Surat, India, and New York, said it took approximately 1,800 hours (75 days) to grow the diamond.

The International Gemological Institute graded it as H color, SI1 clarity.

IGI said the 35-carat stone is the largest polished lab-grown diamond to date, topping the 34.59-carat diamond

Federal prosecutors probing Menendez over luxury gifts: report

The Department of Justice is looking into whether Sen. Bob Menendez (DN.J.) was given expensive gifts, headlined by a Mercedes-Benz, a luxury Washington apartment, jewelry and money, according to reports.

Housekeeper accused of stealing $1M in jewelry from Las Vegas hotel room

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas woman is accused of stealing more than $1 million in jewelry from a hotel room where she worked as a housekeeper.

Amanda Melendez, 27, is accused of residential burglary, grand larceny of more than $100,000 and conspiracy to commit burglary. She is currently out on bail.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s report, officers responding to the Vdara Hotel on May 7 for a reported theft.

Victoria jewelry store vows to stay open after armed robbery

The owner of a century-old jewelry store in Victoria says staff have no plans to close up shop after a dramatic armed robbery over the weekend.

Surveillance video of the robbery shows a man entering the store and pulling out a hammer, smashing display cases and stealing items.
