Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in Garden Grove on Thursday, which resulted in more than $500,000 worth of jewelry being stolen.

According to a press release, the incident occurred at around 12:40 pm as victims were transporting the jewelry along the 22 Freeway, having just exited via the Magnolia Avenue offramp. As they stopped at the red light at the end of the ramp, a silver van stopped directly in front of them, at which point three suspects exited the vehicle.

Recovered jewelry needs to be reclaimed: Police

Over $500,000 in stolen jewelry has been recovered.

York Regional Police are asking for the public’s help locating the rightful owners of a large stash of jewelry they have recovered.

Police say two women were allegedly involved in distraction thefts and robberies within the York Region.

Driving an SUV, the two young women would approach seniors and start a conversation. During the interactions, the police said the women would replace the victims’ real jewelry with cheap costume jewelry.

In some instances, they used force and assaulted the victims when attempting to remove the jewelry.
