Diamond Flies Dart-750 Turboprop Trainer

Diamond Aircraft flew its DART-750 military trainer test article for the first time on June 12 and, as expected, all went well. The longish thin-winged hot rod sports a 750-horsepower Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-25C and is billed as an aerobatic trainer by the company. Diamond test pilots Soren Pedersen and Niko Daroussis flew the plane for 30 minutes and “covered all basic maneuvers including performance and handling checks.”

The aircraft looks something like the Beech Texan II and Embraer Super Tucano trainers that dominate that market (both have PT6 engines) but the similarity ends there. The DART-750 is all-composite

Canadian record holder Sarah Mitton 5th in her Diamond League shot put opener

Canada’s Sarah Mitton opened her Diamond League season with an 18.56-metre throw but couldn’t build off the solid effort, placing fifth in women’s shot put on Sunday in Rabat, Morocco.

After taking the Tucson Elite Classic with a 19.58 performance last weekend in Arizona, she dipped to 18.12 on her second try in Rabat, 18.04 on her fifth and didn’t qualify among the top three for a sixth and final attempt.

Ranked second in the world, Mitton threw 18.98 in Oslo, Norway, 19.90 in Stockholm and 19.44 in Poland last year on the Diamond League professional track and field circuit

The Koh-i-Noor and Cullinan diamonds: Crown jewels have fraught history

For decades, Britain has been giving back its spoils of empire: the Stone of Scone to Scotland in 1996, Hong Kong to China in 1997 and, most recently, some of the Benin bronzes, with perhaps more to follow.

But, so far, that spirit of returning what was taken has not extended to the British crown jewels — specifically to the Koh-i-Noor diamond, which will be kept out of sight during King Charles III’s coronation Saturday, and the Cullinan diamonds, which will feature heavily.

Where the Koh-i-Noor diamond was first pulled from the earth is unknown,

David Lee Roth “Sang So Bad … It Was Embarrassing”

The post Sammy Hagar: David Lee Roth “Sang So Bad … It Was Embarrassing” appeared first on Consequence.

Sammy Hagar has once again taken a position at former Van Halen singer David Lee Roth, bashing Diamond Dave’s singing abilities and egocentric personality in a new interview.

During an appearance on Steve-O’s “Wild Ride!” podcast, Hagar praised his counterpart’s charisma as a “showman,” but said it comes at the expense of Roth’s singing ability and dedication to the craft.

“Hey, listen, I’m a showman too,” Hagar said [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “But that’s his gig. He doesn’t care about singing. If
